Dennis Hlynsky is an American Artist, a pioneer in electronic media and currently a Professor of Film/Animation/Video at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Using technology to capture complex systems inherent within the natural world, he films organisms such as crows, moths and ants, and processes the footage so as to render visible their dynamics and movement paths, transforming morphologies from nature into works of art.

An early adopter of electronic imaging beginning in 1972 with early forms of video signal processing, he has focused his artistic research on instances of group activity. These instances range from human celebration to animal gatherings. He was a co-founder of Electron Movers.

The current work on Field of Desire is a new form where the generative coding itself is using mathematics from the behaviors of natural systems.
